LifeStyle Medical Center

Score: 5

Ok so this one isn’t a product I take, but it is a tool I use. LifeStyle Medical Center is a health organization that focuses on wellness – what it is and how to obtain it. They have a staff of Registered Dietitians, Medical Assistants, a Nutritional Director, and a Physician Assistant. From what I have seen, the mission of LSMC is the overall health of the client, not just losing pounds. Learning to be a healthy person, and putting those things learned into practice, is not always easy. They provide knowledge, accountability, and support throughout the process!

My RD is Catherine, and my MA is Grace. Lexi was my awesome MA for 8 months but is now in Nursing School! Catherine was quick to pick up on my eccentricities, and knows how to handle me (lets be real, I’m not the easiest person). I have only worked with Grace for a few weeks but she is definitely tailoring my assessments to what I need. They both work towards helping me achieve my health goals. Most importantly, I don’t feel like a number, and I can tell that they both make great efforts to make this about me and tailor my visits to how I need things to be to be able to make improvements in myself.

I have been with Catherine since April 2015, and let me tell you this has been a rocky road (not the ice cream, that stuff is amaze-balls) in the nutrition department for me! Catherine has been amazing at making suggestions, helping me figure out what I can eat and what doesn’t work so well. When you have difficulties eating fiber, vegetables, fruit, pretty much anything healthy, it can be super challenging to eat to support your body. Catherine keeps at it, keeps making suggestions, keeps me feeling like it is going to work out. She has been a huge provider of support throughout the past year, and I know that by continuing to work with her it will all come together!

p.s. for anyone in the area, with BCBS 80/20 plan visits to LSMC are completely covered! If you are not in the area, I strongly encourage anyone trying to improve their health to look into whether or not their insurance covers nutritionist appointments. Super helpful.

Greens – Score: 5

This is a powder product that you add to liquid and drink. The product info has a whole bunch of stuff that it says it does but here’s what I get from it – I have more energy. I can survive the days where I am up for 24+ hours so much better. Don’t get me wrong, they are still long and hard, but there is a sustained energy that I get from the Greens that enables me to function on a much more cognizant level throughout my long days. There isn’t a jolt, or a crash, just what I call an elevation in my baseline energy. Thanks to many factors (being over weight/out of shape, having Hashimotos, my crazy work/life schedule) I am tired a lot of the time. This product helps counter that. I love it. Honestly I don’t know how I got along without it. There are days I don’t take it for various reasons, sometimes I don’t need it, sometimes I forget (or am running behind). I can totally tell on the days I skip it.

Side note – it is possible that I see such awesome benefits due to my not having a large intestine and the difficulty I have in eating vegetables. That being said, I know someone else who uses Greens who eats veggies and she swears by it too.

So this is a thread about products I have tried. For each one I will list whether I liked them or not, what I liked/didn’t like, and product and purchase info.

Please note – I am not paid or compensated in any way by anyone for anything written here. I just want to share what has worked for me, because I love it when something works and I hate it when something doesn’t!

I will state a score at the beginning, 1 being low (this sucks!), 5 being high (OMG amazing!).
